The Fishermen's Trail along the southwest coast of Portugal

The Fishermen's Trail, Portugal

The Fishermen's Trail is one of the best coastal walks in Europe. It's part of the Rota Vicentina and follows the old paths the fishermen once used, right along Portugal's wild southwest coast, past cliffs, quiet beaches, small villages and a whole lot of Atlantic.

Where we walk

Over four days we walk roughly 56 kilometres between Zambujeira do Mar and Porto Covo. The scenery does a lot of the work, and we stay at campsites close to the sea. It suits anyone who likes being outdoors and doesn't mind a good day's walking.

The trail got its name from the paths the fishermen once took to reach their spots along the cliffs.
